LOCK HAVEN — If you’re looking for a place to go to lunch, there’s a new option in downtown Lock Haven.
Alanna’s, located at 8 Bellefonte Ave., opened its doors on Thursday. The location was formerly Emma’s Primitives. Inside, things have changed. There is no longer the primitive furniture, knick knacks or other items. All of that has been cleared out to make way for tables for the lunch crowd. According to owner Tammy Lamey, the project was truly a labor of love.
“It’s been a lot (of work). We’ve been doing it a lot on the weekends because my husband works,” Lamey said. “But I am very excited.”
The restaurant is named for Alanna Neidig, who passed away earlier this year. Neidig would have been Lamey’s daughter-in-law.
“I guess this is my way of dealing with her death,” Lamey said. “I want to keep her memory alive, especially for the boys. It made me feel good.”
Alanna’s features purple and yellow decor, which were her favorite colors.
“That’s why we did that,” Lamey said.
As for the food menu, Lamey said that she crafted it to feature mostly specialty sandwiches. There’s the “Colt’s Cuban,” which features ham, swiss cheese, smoked pulled pork and yellow mustard. The “Frank’s Reuben” features homemade pastrami, arugula, swiss cheese and sauerkraut on rye bread. “Cody’s Pulled Pork,” features smoked pork, provolone, sauerkraut and homemade mustard on sourdough bread. Finally, there is the “Jack’s Brisket,” which features brisket, provolone cheese, arugula, homemade mustard and pickled cabbage.
“My husband does the smoking of the meat. That’s a big process,” Lamey said.
Lamey said there will also be footlong hot dogs, regular size hot dogs and soup available every day.
On opening day, the soups were pumpkin chili and sausage, potato and kale soup. The soups will rotate, Lamey said.
“It depends on how fast it sells. Every two to three days, there will be different soups,” Lamey said.
Alanna’s will also feature 12 different flavors of Hershey’s Ice Cream. There will be regular cones, waffle cones, bowls, milkshakes and root beer floats, she said.
Soft serve will also be available down the road, Lamey said.
“People couldn’t wait for us to open to get their ice cream,” Lamey said.
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and is closed on Sunday.
