MILESBURG — This past weekend, the community of Milesburg celebrated Hometown Christmas.
Throughout the day, attendees immersed themselves in a festive atmosphere, enjoying an array of activities including craft-making, savoring delicious food, winning prizes, listening to carolers from Freedom Life Church spreading holiday cheer and delighting in a special visit from St. Nick, courtesy of the Milesburg Lions.
Attendees of Milesburg Hometown Christmas enjoyed a variety of activities, including a Santa parade, a scavenger hunt and home decorating and festive attire contests hosted by the museum. They also had the opportunity to write letters to Santa at The Crooked House, shop for crafts and enjoy food provided by the Lions Club, the Milesburg Legion Auxiliary, the United Methodist Church, the Museum and Historical Society and Citizen’s Hook & Ladder Co. 1 Fire Hall, among others.
The staff of Eagle Valley Personal Care Home, Inc., located at 500 Front Street in Milesburg, have been busy in preparation for the 2024 Milesburg Hometown Christmas.
Held this past Saturday, Nov. 23rd, several other businesses including Fisher’s Market, Twisted Scissors Designz, Lisa’s Shear Pleasure Beauty, Miller’s Hoagies, Valley Ace Hardware, Sweets of Gold, Two Sisters and Weaver’s Wood Crafts and more participated in Milesburgs Hometown Christmas, as well.
“Eagle Valley was asked if we wanted to participate in this year’s Hometown Christmas and with a great deal of excitement we accepted, and looked forward to a great team building experience. We participated several years ago, creating a magical environment for our residents, staff and visitors. When we were asked this year, we thought let’s do it!,” said Sara Bennett, Eagle Valley Personal Care Home administrator.
Eagle Valley staff created magic just in time for the upcoming holidays, choosing five different themes to decorate the personal care home. The night shift chose “Snowman Land,” housekeeping and kitchen staff picked “Winter Wonderland,” evening shift chose “Nativity,” the administrative/business office staff chose “North Pole Candy Co.,” and the day shift chose “Vintage Country Christmas.”
Several people stopped by the facility for storytime Saturday afternoon and to hunt for the clue hidden there for the Hometown Scavenger Hunt.
The residents enjoyed stringing cranberries and popcorn for the north wing’s vintage tree, while the staff picked fresh greens from the woods. The residents’ smiles were from ear to ear, while watching and anticipating what would come next.
The joy this brings to our residents and their families is beyond what words can describe, and seeing their faces light up is what matters most to us. The residents enjoy welcoming the community while they tour the facility voting for their favorite area,” Bennett said.
