CMHS doubles nominations at 2025 Ray of Light Awards

MILL HALL — The Central Mountain High School Drama Club has outdone themselves this year with twice as many Ray of Light nominations as the previous season.

The Ray of Light Awards for Excellence in High School Theatre is an annual program to develop and promote the efforts of area high school music theater and drama programs.

Nominees were announced on May 1, and the CMHS drama club had the following nominations both as a cast and as individuals:

–The Puffs Cast – Outstanding play, outstanding ensemble in a play, Ray Phillips Memorial Trophy for Best Drama Program.

— The Chicago Cast – Outstanding musical production (northern region), Ray Phillips Memorial Trophy for Best Drama Program

— Claire Bowman – Bronze Medalist (Musical Performance), Silver Medalist (Dramatic Performance), Excellence in Student Design, Outstanding Musical Performance in a Leading Female Role (Velma Kelly, Chicago)

— Seth Geyer – Outstanding Dramatic Performance in a Leading Male Role (Oliver Rivers, Puffs), Outstanding Musical Performance in a Leading Male Role (Billy Flinn, Chicago)

— Thomas Geyer – Outstanding Musical Performance in a Supporting Male Role (Amos Hart, Chicago), Outstanding Dramatic Performance in a Leading Male Role (Wayne Hopkins, Puffs), Excellence in Student Design

— Kathryn Farrall – Silver Medalist (Dramatic Performance), Outstanding Dramatic Performance in a Leading Female Role (Megan Jones, Puffs), Outstanding Musical Performance in a Leading Female Role (Roxie Hart, Chicago)

— McKenna Gray – Excellence in Student Design, Outstanding Musical Performance in a Supporting Female Role (Mama Morton, Chicago)

— Sarah Long – Bronze Medal (Musical Performance)

“Central Mountain doubled our numbers from last year and we were nominated for 15 (total) awards plus we received 6 commendations for excellence in design,” said Director and Drama Club Advisor Ericka Conklin.
