Driver injured in accident Thursday

JERSEY SHORE – One woman was transported to Jersey Shore Hospital after she was involved in a two-car accident around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to Tiadaghton Valley Regional Police officers on scene, Tammy Walker, 49, from Williamsport pulled out from an alley onto Allegheny Street, and her green Mazda Portage collided with a red Jeep Wrangler driven by Dixie Burnette, 64, from Avis, that was traveling west on Allegheny Street,

Walker’s vehicle spun around and was facing east on Allegheny after the impact. Rescue personnel had to remove the driver-side door to free Walker and transport her to the hospital.

Both women were the only occupants in their vehicles, and both were wearing seatbelts, according to police.

Rescue units from Independent Hose Co., Citizens Hose, and Jersey Shore EMS responded to the accident in the 500 block of Allegheny Street.
