Bellefonte florist charged with not paying sales tax

BELLEFONTE — Allen Baney, of Bellefonte, president and owner of Avant Garden in State College, has been charged with failing to pay more than $19,000 in sales tax over a three-year period, according to the Office of the Attorney General.

A sales and use tax audit conducted by the Department of Revenue for the period of January 2013 to October 2016 found a sales tax deficit of $19,338.65, according to the report. The auditor also found $90,566.84 collected in sales tax was not remitted.

Three business tax liens worth more than $62,000 and a responsible party assessment worth more than $11,000 for outstanding trust fund taxes was also filed by the Department of Revenue.
