Beech Creek man

charged with rape

WILLIAMSPORT — Benjamin Berry, 35, of Beech Creek, was charged with rape, sexual assault and indecent assault after allegedly raping a female while she was sleeping in a home in Williamsport on June 1, state police at Montoursville said.

Berry was released on $25,000 bail, police said.

Public defecation

LOCK HAVEN — Gregory Hoy, 41, of Beech Creek, has been charged with public defecation after he allegedly defecated into a bucket at Hammermill Park, Pearl Street, Lock Haven, in view of the public on June 5, according to Lock Haven City Police.

DUI charges pending

LINDEN — Corry Tawney, 44, of Linden, was arrested on May 19 while operating a blue Coolster ATV on the roadway along Glosser Road in Woodward Township, Lycoming County.

Upon further investigation it was determined that the operator was under the influence of alcohol, with charges pending, according to state police at Montoursville.

DUI alleged

WILLIAMSPORT — A Lock Haven man was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop along West Fourth Street in Williamsport on May 18, state police at Montoursville said.

Jeffri Zahnd, 58, was stopped on May 18 due to violations of vehicle code, police said.

DUI crash

LINDEN — On May 4, Zebadiah Allen, 23, of Mill Hall, crashed his vehicle along Route 220 highway in Woodward Township, Lycoming County, and was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence, according to state police at Montoursville.

The crash occurred when Allen failed to make a left turn in the roadway, traveling up an embankment, striking a “do not enter” sign and then a ditch, police said.

Allen was then transported to UPMC Susquehanna by Woodward Township Fire Company, with suspected serious injuries, police said.

JS man charged with

illegal sale of firearm

WILLIAMSPORT — Benjamin Carpenter, 28, of 75 Carpenter Ln., Linden, was charged by state police at Montoursville with felony illegal sale of a firearm for allegedly selling a handgun to a person not of legal age to purchase such a weapon.

The incident occurred at Harvest Moon Trailer Park in Woodward Township in early August 2012, police said.

Carpenter was released on $15,000 bail, police said.
