Assault, terroristic threats

PORT MATILDA — A 68-year-old Port Matilda man has been charged with two counts of simple assault and one court of terroristic threats after he allegedly threatened his wife, according to state police at Rockview.

The names of the husband and wife were not released by police, who said they were dispatched to a residence on Shady Dell Road in Worth Township, Centre County, at 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 2, to check on the welfare of a 53-year-old adult female who a third party expressed concern of possible abuse by the woman’s husband.

Upon arrival, the woman answered the door and said she was in fear for her life and she was quickly and covertly escorted from the residence, police said. She was granted an Emergency Protection from Abuse Order.

Criminal charges were filed and a warrant was issued for the man’s arrest. The warrant was served and he voluntarily appeared for arraignment and bail was set at $10,000, police said.
