DUI suspected in crash

HAINES TOWNSHIP — State Police at Rockview investigated a one-vehicle crash that took place along state Route 2018 (Pine Creek Road) in Haines Township at 6:04 a.m. on Dec. 24.

According to police, Chelsea Baney, 23, of Millheim was traveling East on the roadway when she traveled off the roadway and struck a tree with her 2018 Jeep Compass. The front end of the Jeep was damaged significantly and had to be towed from the scene by Extreme Towing. Baney was placed into custody for suspicion of DUI. Baney and a passenger were not hurt in the crash.

Police were assisted at the scene by the Millheim Volunteer Fire Department.

Two-vehicle crash investigated

MARION TOWNSHIP — State Police at Rockview were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash that took place at 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 27 in Marion Township, Centre County.

According to police, Sharon Hintmeyer, 60, of Bellefonte, was traveling westbound in the left lane along Interstate 80 in her 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe. A second vehicle, a 2020 Freightliner Cascade tractor trailer being driven by Nestor Gonzalez, 35, of Whittier, Calif., was struck when Hintmeyer failed to maintain control of her vehicle. Both drivers were able to pull off the roadway onto the North shoulder of I-80. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and no injuries were reported.

Hintmeyer was cited for her role in the crash.

Police investigate two-vehicle crash

WALKER TOWNSHIP — State Police at Rockview were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash at 11:58 a.m. on Dec. 28.

According to police, a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser being driven by Kathie Grove, 64, of Howard was stopped along Nittany Valley Drive, waiting to turn at the intersection near Snydertown Road. A 2008 Chevrolet Impala being driven by Cody Pierce, 31, of State College failed to stop and rear-ended the Cruiser. Pierce was not wearing his seat belt and sustained moderate injuries in the crash. Grove also sustained moderate injuries. They were transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center by Pleasant Gap EMS.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene by Extreme Towing. Police were assisted at the scene by the Walker Township Fire Department, Goodwill Hose EMS and Pleasant Gap EMS.

New York man charged with drug possession

SNOW SHOE — State Police at Rockview recently made a drug-related arrest.

According to police, Judah Axelrod, 23, of New York, was traveling along Interstate 80 eastbound when he was stopped by state police. According to the report, police stopped his 2009 Honda Civic near mile marker 141.5 in Snow Shoe Township, Centre County. Axelrod was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

The incident took place at 3:44 p.m. on Dec. 24.

One-vehicle crash investigated

HOWARD — State Police at Rockview were called to the scene of a one-vehicle crash at 10:01 a.m. on Dec. 28.

According to police, Lori Bartley, 57, of Howard, was traveling along Slaughterhouse Road just West of Windy Lane in Marion Township, Centre County. Bartley was traveling North and lost control of her 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer while negotiating a curve in the roadway. She spun counterclockwise into the South lane, overcorrected and spun clockwise back into the North lane when it left the roadway, struck a large boulder and flipped onto its roof. It came to rest on the East shoulder facing North.

Bartley, who sustained a minor injury, was cited for her role in the crash.

Police were assisted at the scene by the Howard Fire Department. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Tressler’s Towing.

Altoona woman charged with DUI

BOALSBURG — State Police at Rockview recently charged an Altoona woman with DUI and drug possession.

According to police, a 26-year-old Altoona woman was traveling along U.S. state Route 322 West (Boalsburg Road) at 9:06 a.m. on Sept. 1 when she was stopped. Drug paraphernalia was spotted in her 2016 Kia Rio.

The defendant showed signs of impairment and was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for a blood draw. She was processed and released. DUI charges are still pending.

Man charged with underage drinking, DUI

WILLIAMSPORT — A Linden man was charged with driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol at 12:46 a.m. on Dec. 1 while traveling along North Market Street in Williamsport.

According to State Police at Montoursville, John Duda, 20, of Linden, was stopped in his 1994 Ford F-150 XLT for traffic violations. An investigation revealed that Duda was under the influence of alcohol. Duda was also found to be in possession of alcoholic beverages.

Police investigate crash

WATSON TOWNSHIP — State Police at Montoursville investigated a one-vehicle crash that took place along state Route 973 in Watson Township, Lycoming County.

According to police, Kenneth Harding, 74, of Linden was traveling West on state Route 973 in Watson Township when he lost control of his 2004 Ford F-150 XLT on an icy roadway. The pickup truck traveled across the opposing lane of traffic and left the south side of the roadway before striking an embankment. It then exited the north side of the roadway, struck a mailbox and came to rest.

The incident took place at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 28. Police were assisted at the scene by Aikey’s Towing.
