Police pursuit ends in crash

RENOVO — State police at Lamar were involved in a high-speed pursuit in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to police, a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta being driven by Calvin Mask of Scranton was traveling west along state Route 120 in Chapman Township, Clinton County. A police vehicle, a 2017 Ford Explorer, was in pursuit when it crashed. Both state troopers in the police vehicle sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Police say that Mask, who was fleeing the state police, then lost control of his Jetta while rounding a turn. It collided with a guiderail before striking a cement bridge barrier. The Jetta came to rest in the middle of the roadway, blocking both lanes of traffic.

Mask fled the scene on foot before being apprehended later on Feb. 1. The police vehicle and the Jetta were towed from the scene by Martin Motors. Mask sustained minor injuries in the crash.
