Theft by deception
HOWARD — State Police at Rockview are investigating a case of theft by deception that took place on June 24 along Pine Street in Walker Township, Centre County.
According to police, an 81-year-old woman and a 77-year-old man were scammed out of nearly $400 when an unknown actor contacted the victims, impersonated their grandson and asked for money. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the victims gave the person numbers to a pre-paid Visa card.
The investigation is ongoing.
Stop sign stolen
BENNER TOWNSHIP — State Police at Rockview investigated a case of theft that took place around noon on June 25 at the intersection of Purdue Mountain Road and the Unionville Pike. According to police, someone stole a stop sign and its mounting post at the intersection in Benner Township, Centre County.
The investigation continues.
WILLIAMSPORT — A case of harassment was investigated by State Police at Montoursville at 4:37 p.m. on June 25.
According to police, the incident took place along Westminster Drive in Loyalsock Township, Lycoming County.
According to police, there was an argument between Vesta Jones, 34, of Lock Haven and a 30-year-old Williamsport. The argument escalated to the point that Jones scratched the victim’s hand.
