Police News – July 30
LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven City Police were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash that took place at 12:49 p.m. on July 27 at the intersection of South Highland Street and Bellefonte Avenue in Lock Haven.
According to police, a Lock Haven minor was driving a 2007 Nissan Versa when she pulled out from a stop sign and was struck by a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee being driven by John Hafer of Lock Haven. A passenger in the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Zachary Rogers, was injured in the crash and believed his elbow was broken. Damage to both vehicles was moderate.
The driver of the Nissan Versa was cited for her role in the crash.
Theft by deception
SPRING MILLS — State police at Rockview investigated a case of theft by deception that took place at 5:27 p.m. on July 27 along Old Fort Road in Potter Township, Centre County.
According to police, a 63-year-old Spring Mills man was the victim of theft. A Western Union money order was paid for by his debit card and a “money gram” from a website. The money order was in the amount of $208 and the “money gram” was in the amount of $100.
The investigation continues.
JULIAN — State Police at Rockview investigated a death that took place along Rattlesnake Pike in Union Township, Centre County. A 62-year-old Julian man was found dead at his residence. Police say the death took place sometime between July 23 and July 25. It was ruled accidental in nature.
BELLEFONTE — State police at Rockview investigated a case of DUI that took place at 11:12 a.m. along Interstate 99 in Benner Township, Centre County. Mark Celona, 40, of Berwick, was stopped in his 2000 Buick and was found to be under the influence of marijuana, police said. Charges against Celona are pending the results of a toxicology report.
