BELLEFONTE — State Police at Rockview is investigating a case of assault that took place at 12:56 p.m. on July 26 at the Central Counties Youth Detention Center in Benner Township, Centre County.
The victim was a 61-year-old Bellefonte man. He was assaulted by a juvenille. The investigation is ongoing.
CASTANEA — A traffic stop lead to an arrest on Route 220 near Paul Mack Boulevard, Castenea Township on July 24 at 9:20 p.m., state police at Lamar said.
Jesse Thompson, 23, of Williamsport, was stopped for speeding in his 2016 Volkswagen Jetta when officers noticed the smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, police said.
Thompson was asked to step out of the vehicle for a field sobriety test while officers searched the vehicle, police said.
Marijuana and a marijuana smoking device were found inside the vehicle, police said.
Thompson was arrested for driving under the influence and transported for chemical testing, police said.
LAMAR — State police at Lamar are investigating an incident involving counterfit $20 bills at the Denny’s Restaurant along Nittany Valley Drive, Porter Township.
Only July 10, five of the counterfeit bills were found in the cash register although it wasn’t known who had paid with them, police said.
MILL HALL — A 39-year-old Lock Haven man was arrested after being found unconscious in a 2002 Ford truck at the Lock Haven Motel along Hogan Boulevard, state police at Lamar said.
Police responded to the location on July 13 to assist the Clinton County Probation office, police said.
The man, whose name wasn’t listed, was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Charges will be filed through district court, police said.
MILL HALL — State police at Lamar are investigating the theft of $100 from a self check out machine in Mill Hall on July 13.
A 51-year-old Lafayette, La. woman was using the self check out when she forgot to retrieve the money from the machine before leaving, police said.
The suspect, who was behind her in line, took the cash without attempting to return it, police said.
MILL HALL — Courtney E. Royer, 35, of Mill Hall, may face DUI related charges following an accident along Firehouse Road in Lamar Township on July 15, state police at Lamar said.
Royer was traveling north on the road at 2:28 p.m. when she traveled off the roadway and struck a barn with her 2003 Ford Explorer, police said.
Royer attempted to back up and struck a barn on the opposite side of the roadway, police said.
Following the accident, Royer parked her vehicle at her residence located next door, police said.
After an investigation, Royer was taken to UPMC Lock Haven for a legal blood draw and placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.
BEECH CREEK — State police at Lamar are investigating an incident of attempted theft from a vehicle on July 25 at the Merreyvale Street Parking Lot in Beech Creek borough.
A 53-year-old Mill Hall woman observed a white woman attempting to gain access to a 2014 Ford Focus at 7:30 p.m., police said.
LOCK HAVEN — State police at Lamar were called to a dispute along South Hanna Street in Castanea Township on July 25.
A verbal dispute occurred between a suspect and 36-year-old Lock Haven woman when the suspect, name not listed, kicked the victim’s 2008 Pontiac G6, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
Vehicle strikes bicycle
AVIS — A 17-year-old cyclist suffered minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of West Central Avenue and Short Street in Avis on July 26, state police at Lamar said.
The Jersey Shore man was entering the eastbound lane of Central Avenue when he made impact with a 2015 Kia Optima, driven by Genea D. Marshall, 47, of Jersey Shore, police said.
The cyclist was thrown from the bike and fell to the right side into the grass, police said.
The 17-year-old was transported to Geisinger Jersey Shore for his injuries, police said.
No charges were filed in relation to this accident, police said.
