Fraud incident
BELLEFONTE — State police at Rockview investigated a fraud incident on Sept. 18 at a residence on Runville Road in Boggs Township, Centre County.
A 73-year-old Bellefonte man reported receiving a phone call and thinking it was Amazon was told if he didn’t send $500 to an unknown actor, he would be charged 30 percent interest for a previous charge.
The victim was told to go to a website to deposit the money. The victim went to the website and attempted to enter the amount of $500 and in doing so, the amount changed to $5,600, police said.
Hit and Run
LOCK HAVEN — On Sept. 21 at approximately 10 a.m., Lock Haven Police were notified of a hit and run crash.
David Saar of 219 Youngs Ave., told police that sometime between 7:30 and 9 p.m. his car was damaged while parked at the American Legion.
Police said Saar’s car, a 2011 Chevy Cruze, had minor bumper damage at the right rear of the car, but they could not prove if it was damaged at that time or not.
