Centre man pleads guilty to child porn

WILLIAMSPORT — A Centre County man already classified a sexually violent predator in a state case has admitted receiving child pornography.

Michael Anthony Dashem, 36, of Port Matilida, who pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. Middle District Court,is facing up to 20 additional years in prison.

He is serving a state prison sentence of 6 to 12 years imposed in Centre County in July 2016. He pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated indecent assault of a child, unlawful contact with a minor and indecent exposure.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey W. MacArthur said 20 images and one video of minors engaged in sexual activity with adults were found on a tablet when police responded to a domestic incident at his home on July 2, 2015.

The receipt of child pornography charge carries a mandatory minimum of five years in prison.

State charges related to the child pornography incident are to be dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
