COLLEGE TOWNSHIP — State police at Rockview continue to investigate a fatal hit and run accident that took place along Interstate 99 in 2013.
The hit and run pedestrian crash took place between 3:45 and 4 a.m. near milemarker 72.6 along I-99. According to police, the vehicle involved may be a passenger vehicle or small pickup truck. It struck the pedestrian, Sherry Houtz, and left the scene traveling southbound. At this time, there is no color, make or model information for the hit and run vehicle. The vehicle may have had damage to the passenger side from the front corner and back along the passenger side, including the wheel wells and the passenger side of the windshield.
After the crash was reported, Houtz was reported to have been observed walking along the southbound side of I-99 by witnesses responding to the initial news of a pedestrian being struck.
State police and her family are asking anyone who may have been traveling in the area of I-99 North or southbound around 3:30 to 4 a.m. on Feb. 12, 2013 or who may have witnessed the accident to contact state police at Rockview at (814) 355-7545.
BELLEFONTE — State police at Rockview investigated the death of an inmate of SCI Rockview at Mt. Nittany Medical Center on Nov. 5.
Through an investigation it was determined the inmate died due to natural causes, police said.
Deer causes accident
BELLEFONTE — The driver of a 2010 Ford F-150 XLT was not injured following a crash along Benner Pike, Benner Township, Centre County on Nov. 10, state police at Rockview.
The driver, name not listed, was traveling on the road when the deer ran out into the roadway and struck the front driver side of the vehicle, police said.
No charges were filed and the vehicle was able to be driven from the scene, police said.
SNOW SHOE — A 42-year-old Galloway, Ohio man was found in possession of drugs along Interstate-80 near mile marker 141, Snow Shoe Township, Centre County on Sept. 30, state police at Rockview said.
Charges are pending.
