Illegal firearm possession

LOCK HAVEN — Bobby Joe Winkelman, 39, of 4th Street in Renovo Borough, was sentenced Monday morning to up to 10 years in a State Correctional Institution on one count of person not to possess a firearm, a felony of the 2nd degree.

Clinton County President Judge Craig P. Miller imposed the sentence following a brief sentencing hearing, and made Winkelman eligible for parole after 54 months.

Winkelman was charged after police apprehended him on an outstanding warrant for other criminal charges in March. When he was located by police, Winkelman was in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Due to Winkelman’s prior convictions for felony burglary, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm for the rest of his life.

Winkelman was represented in the case by Attorney Christian Lovecchio.

The Commonwealth was represented by District Attorney Dave Strouse.

Delivery of controlled substance

LOCK HAVEN — Bryan K. Eldred, 26, of School House Road, Bald Eagle Township, entered guilty pleas Monday morning to two felony deliveries of a controlled substance from 2020 and 2021.

Police charged Eldred with the drug deliveries following a Clinton County Drug Task Force operation that spanned several months. Eldred pled to deliveries of 3.5 and 3.7 grams of synthetic cathinones, commonly referred to as “bath salts,” to a confidential informant.

Eldred is scheduled for sentencing in December of 2021.

DUI

LOCK HAVEN — On Oct. 24, state police at Lamar initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Water Street and North Fifth Street for a Lock Haven man suspected of being under the influence.

Police pulled over Samuel Watkins, 24, in his 1999 Dodge Chrysler at the intersection where he was found to be under the influence of alcohol and refused chemical testing.

Criminal charges were filed through District Judge Keith Kibler’s office.

Radiators stolen

BEECH CREEK — Between the dates of Oct. 22 and 25, eight air conditioner radiators were stolen from a 41-year-old man’s residence on Grant Street in Beech Creek.

The radiators are valued at $200, police said in their report.

Identity theft

MADISONBURG — State police at Rockview responded to a report of an identity theft that occurred in Miles Township.

Dawn Dean, 53, of Madisonburg, reported to police that an unknown individual had opened a BB&T bank account in her name on Aug. 21.

Dean related that she had reported this to BB&T Bank and that they were handling the situation.

She also reported that she had frozen all of her credit accounts and notified Social Security.

A total $236 in overdraft fees were stolen along with her personal ID, police said in their report.

Unemployment scam

HOWARD — State police at Rockview investigated a report at Hillside Drive in Howard of an attempted Unemployment scam on Oct. 18.

According to police, the victim, Mark Hevner, 50, of Howard, reported the attempted scam to his employer and Pa. Unemployment office. The victim had no money stolen from him, police said.

Identity theft

HOWARD — On Oct. 23, state police at Rockview received a report that a false unemployment claim was made under the victim’s name. According to police, the incident occured at 52 Askey Road, Curtin Township, Centre County.

DUI

BELLEFONTE — State police at Rockview made a traffic stop on Sept. 10 on East Bishop Street in Bellefonte.

According to police, a 47-year-old male driving a Harley Davidson was under the influence of a controlled subtance.

The arrestee was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for a legal blood draw, according to police.
