Sonshine Club donates to Backpack Program

The Beech Creek Wesleyan Church Sonshine Program recently donated $250 to the YMCA’s Backpack Program. The club, a senior group for those 60 and over, meets at the church the first Friday of every month. They always have a luncheon and fellowship followed by a special guest speaker who gives useful and interesting information. Recently Lori Lohman, the School Age Director at the Lock Haven YMCA spoke to them about a subject close to her heart, the School Backpack Program which she directs. The club decided to donate to this group which gives them the opportunity to share with the children in need of food on weekends. It is verifiable that 1 in 5 children in Clinton County suffer from food insecurity. That was alarming to members of the club. Recently the club’s treasurer Ken Packer, right, presented the $250 to Lohman, left, to help support the children. If anyone would like to assit the program they can contact Lohman at the YMCA.
