St. Paul to host Homecoming

LOGANTON — The annual Homecoming service at St. Paul’s EUB Church will be held Sunday, Oct. 6 at 2:30 p.m.

Guest speaker for this years service will be Rev. Robert Pickering, former Pastor of the Sugar Valley United Methodist Charge. Special music will also be provided by local musician Phil Reeder.

St. Paul’s Church is located in Sugar Valley on West Winter Road one mile west of Greenburr. All are welcome for this annual time of worship and fellowship.

Poetry fundraiser

BEECH CREEK – Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, 217 Main St., Beech Creek, will host a fundraiser for injured Jersey Shore Football player, Caleb Leone on Sunday at 6 p.m.

Poet Walter Myers will share some of the poems he has written. Myers, from Beech Creek, was named Poet of the Year in 2015 by Poetryfest for his poem “Flights of Angels.” He also was received into the Poetryfest Hall of Fame in 2017.

At the poetry reading an offering will be received for Caleb Leone.

Fall Revival

HOWARD — Summit Hill Wesleyan Church, 1725 Summit Hill Road, Howard, will be hosting Fall Revival from Oct. 13 to 16. The congregation will meet each evening at 7 p.m. until Sunday, Oct. 16.

There will be a 9:30 a.m. Sunday School, 10:30 a.m. worship service as well at a 6:30 p.m. evening service.

Evangalist Rev. Leroy Wion will be a guest speaker. Everyone is invited to attend.

Soup sales at Great Island Presbyterian

LOCK HAVEN — Great Island Presbyterian Church, 12 W. Water St., will be holding their annual fall soup sale on Oct. 11 and 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The cost is $5 a quart.

The Kramers to perform at Beech Creek Wesleyan

BEECH CREEK — Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, 217 Main St., Beech Creek, will host The Kramers in a free concert on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m.

The Kramers are a national and international southern Gospel music family. They have been part of the Gaither Fall Festival and the National Quartet Convention.

Combined services at Clintondale UM

MILL HALL — Clintondale and Mackeyville United Methodist churches will be holding a combined service this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at Clintondale United Methodist, 5029 Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall.

Refreshments will be available after the service.

Flemington UM to hold combined service

FLEMINGTON — Flemington United Methodist Church will be hosting a combine service with its two sister churches, Lamar and Mill Hall, at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29.

A pot luck luncheon will follow the service. The churches three choirs will combine for worship music.

Big Woods Women’s livestream to

continue today

LOCK HAVEN — Big Woods Bible Church invites all area women to join them for a livestream of the Revive 2019 Conference with Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth. The topic is Seeking Him and it will be a time for women to focus on personal revival.

The event began yesterday and will begin again at 9:30 a.m. today. The program will run until 12:30 p.m. and then again from 2 to 5 p.m.

Anyone is welcome to join the program today.

Gospel meeting

FLEMINGTON — The Wright Street Church of Christ, Flemington, will be holding Gospel meetings from Oct. 2 through 6.

Services will begin at 7 p.m. each evening with a breakfast planned for 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 5 and two additional services at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 6.

Autumn service at Benner Chapel

BELLEFONTE — The 40th Annual Autumn service of Praise and Thanksgiving to God, will be held on Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Fred Benner woods, 323 Nilson Road, Bellefonte. The walk to the Chapel takes approximately 15 minutes and assistance is available for those unable to walk the distance.

Rev. Doug Conway of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Bellefonte will be the guest minister. Communion will also be celebrated during the service.

The 4 Liberty Bell Singers from the Liberty Baptist Church in Blanchard and some of Eleanor Benner’s great grandchildren will provide special music.

A children’s story will again be told by Dave Benner.

52nd Annual Pork and Sauerkraut dinner

JERSEY SHORE — St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 120 Kendall Ave., Jersey Shore, will be hosting its 52nd Annual Family Style Pork & Sauerkraut Dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Two meals will be scheduled for lunch, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and dinner, 4 to 7 p.m., with take out available all day. Tickets cost $9 for adults in advance and $9.50 at the door. Children ages 12 to 6 cost $3.50 and children 5 and under eat free. Advanced tickets can be order by calling Tammy or Denise at the Parish office at 570-745-3301 or Sue at 570-398-0352. Covenant UM monthly soup sales

LOCK HAVEN — Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., will begin their monthly soup sales starting Oct. 5. Take out orders only. Orders must be called into the church at 570-748-6481 (Monday through Wednesday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) by Sept. 30. Pick-up will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 5. This month’s soup will be Zuppa Toscana at $7 per quart. The church will also be selling homemade bread costing $4 a loaf.

Fresh homemade doughnuts are back

JERSEY SHORE — Trinity United Methodist Church, 1407 Allegheny St., will be offering fresh homemade doughnuts on Thursday, Oct. 17. Walk-ins are welcome after 7 a.m. that day. To order doughnuts, call the church office at 570-398-2913 Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to place an order and give approximate time of pick-up on Oct. 17. The cost is $6 per dozen and $3 for a half-dozen.

Covenant and Faith UM to hold Fifth Sunday

LOCK HAVEN — Covenant and Faith United Methodist Churches will be holding a combined worship service at Covenant United Methodist, 44 Main St., Lock Haven, on Sunday at 8:45 a.m. A breakfast brunch will follow the service which will include potato casseroles along with fruit, beverages and pastries. Everyone is invited to attend.

Hoagie sale at Lamar Methodist

LAMAR — Lamar Methodist Church is having a hoagie sale with orders due by Sunday. Orders can be picked up at the church at 4 p.m. on Oct. 10. Anyone wishing to place an order can do so by calling 570-748-6694. All proceeds will benefit the hardship fund to help families in need.

JERSEY SHORE — Oriole United Methodist Church, 39 Main Road, Jersey Shore, will be hosting a chicken and biscuit dinner on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets cost $6.50 for adults, $4 for children age five to 12 and children four and under eat free. Tickets can be purchased at the door, take out will be available.

Fall Festival at First Church of Christ

LOCK HAVEN — First Church of Christ, 330 N. Vesper St., will be hosting a fall festival today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and will include food, games, prizes, a bounce house, a bike give away and Kid Notes Performance at noon.
