Strath Hanna to perform at Trinity UM

BELLEFONTE — Celtic style band Strath Hanna will be performing at Trinity United Methodist Church, 128 W. Howard St., on Sunday, Sept. 15 as part of the Bellefonte Sunday Afternoon Chamber Music Series.

Strath Hanna play mostly Scottish and English traditional music for both dancing and listen and are made up of Matt Carlson, Toby Carlson, John Collins and Betsy Gamble.

One of their specialties is playing for Scottish Country Dancing and, with one member a dancer, they know their music from a dancer’s point of view.

In their hometown of State College they perform at Nittany Scottish Country Dancers events and also enjoy playing for English country and contra dancing.

Their name has both Scottish and central Pennsylvania roots. Strath comes from the Strath Valleys in Scotland and Hanna Creeks of Pennsylvania.

Their performance will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the church. The performance is free to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend.
