Annual Free Book Fair

HOWARD — St. Mark Lutheran Church, 850 Snydertown Road, Howard, will be holding its annual Free Book Fair and Costless Closet on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All books, magazines, games, puzzles, and clothing are free. Please bring books to share (no encyclopedias). Check out the costless closet on the middle level of the church. A non-expired canned item for the local food bank is requested.

Doors open promptly at 9 a.m.; we are unable to accommodate early arrivals.

Coffee, water and tea will be provided. Several varieties of soup, sandwiches, sides, pie and baked goods will be offered for sale.

St. Mark is located off Route 64 between Lamar and Hublersburg on Snydertown Road. Watch for signs. Please call the church (814-383-4882) or Cathy (814-383-2094) for more information.

Hoagie party

AVIS — Local seniors and other of all ages are invited to a hoagie party at Avis United Methodist Church on Feb. 4 at 12 p.m.

Church breakfast

McELHATTAN – Avis United Methodist Church will be holding a church breakfast at Restless Oaks Restaurant along Pine Mountain Road in McElhattan on Feb. 1 at 8 a.m. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy good fellowship along with good food. Bring family, a friend or a neighbor.

Fellowship meetings

AVIS — Scott Shoop will be leading prayer meetings discussing different topics of interest each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Avis United Methodist Church social hall. Please remember to bring your Bibles.

Souper Bowl Sunday

TYLERSVILLE — St. John’s United Methodist Church, 3782 Narrows Road, Loganton, will be holding their annual “Souper Bowl Sunday” fundraiser each Sunday from Jan. 19 from Feb. 2. The church will be collecting food items for the Sugar Valley Food Bank and a special offering on Feb. 2 for the Ronald McDonald House. If anyone would like to donate money via check please mark it as SV Food Bank or Ronald McDonald House.
