Holy Spirit Parish to hold annual fish fries

LOCK HAVEN — Holy Spirit Parish will hold their annual Lenten Fish Fries beginning Friday, Feb. 28 at the Parish Center, St. Agnes Church, 3 E. Walnut St., Lock Haven.

The dinners will run every Friday during lent, ending on April 3 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The menu will consist of haddock (deep fried or baked) for $11; fried shrimp for $11; fried oysters for $12; and child’s or petite meal for $6.

Each meal includes macaroni and cheese, stewed tomatoes, coleslaw, bread, a dessert and beverage.

Take outs will be available from 4 to 6 p.m.

JERSEY SHORE — The following Lenten services will be held in Nippenose Valley and Jersey Shore, Lycoming County at 7 p.m. each evening.

— March 4, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 5973 Jacks Hollow Road, Bastress

— March 11, Oriole United Methodist Church, 32 Main Road, Jersey Shore

— March 18, Antes Fort United Methodist Church, 19 E. Fourth St., Antes Fort

— March 25, Oval United Methodist Church, 6796 PA-44, Jersey Shore

— April 1, St. James Lutheran Church, 3242 Middle Road, Rauchtown

A Maundy Thursday Service will take place on April 9 at 7 p.m. at Antes Fort United Methodist Church.

A Good Friday Service will take place on April 10 at 7 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1407 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore.

St. Luke’s to hold Soup sale

FLEMINGTON — St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Flemington will be holding a soup sale, Saturday, March 14.

Pick-up will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the church. Soup will be $6 a quart. Soups being offered are vegetable beef, chicken corn and ham and bean.

Orders may be placed by calling the church office at 570-748-5741, Tuesday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Orders may also be left on the church answering machine. Last date to place orders is Monday, March 9.

Rachael Karwowski’s final performance

SWISSDALE — Rachael Karwowski will be putting on her final performance to help raise money for a trip to Europe with the Mansfield University Concert Choir in July. The concert will be on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 3 p.m. at Swissdale United Methodist Church, 974 Croak Hollow Road, Lock Haven.

Annual Lenten Soup Sale and Luncheon

MONTOURSVILLE — Episcopal Church of Our Savior, 31 N. Loyalsock Ave., Montoursville, will be holding their Annual Lenten Soup Sale and Luncheon every Thursday from Feb. 27 to April 2. The luncheons will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and include hamburg barbeque, hot dogs, homemade vegetable soup, baked beans and homemade pies. The cost for soup is $5 per quart. Soup sale

LOCK HAVEN — Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven, will be selling cheesy chicken rice soup for March at $7 a quart and homemade bread for $4 a loaf. Orders must be called into the church at 570-748-6481 by 1 p.m. one March 2. Pickup will be March 7 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Lenten Services

MILL HALL – Lamar United Methodist Church, 5029 Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall, will be hosting Lenten Services with its sister churches every Sunday from March 1 to 29 at 7 p.m. Communion will only be held on March 1, 15 and 29 this year and an offering will be taken for the Jackson Runkle family. Jackson is 7 years old and was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Spaghetti dinner

JERSEY SHORE — Oriole United Methodist Church, 39 Main Road, Jersey Shore, will be hosting a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, March 7 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $6.50 for adults, $4 for children ages three to 12 and children under three eat free. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Take outs are available.

Leap year dance

STATE COLLEGE — The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Jazz Band will be performing at the United Universalist Fellowship of Centre County, 780 Waupelani Drive Extension, State College, on Saturday, Feb. 29 for their Leap Year Dance. The dance will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and cost $5 for adults, $3 for students and children five and under for free. Proceeds will benefit Interfaith Human Services, Inc.
