Online Blessing of Pets scheduled
PLEASANT GAP — St. Mark Lutheran Church in Howard and St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pleasant Gap will be hosting an online Blessing of Pets and Animals at 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 4. The service can be seen on Facebook Live on the St. Mark Lutheran Church Snydertown Facebook page.
The service is held on the day when churches are honoring St. Francis of Assisi, who celebrated all of God’s creation.
Regardless of religious affiliation, all are invited to watch the service and have their pets with them and be blessed! Between now and the service, all also are invited to post photos of their pets on the Facebook Event page and share a little about them.

Take out soup sale
HOWARD — Howard United Methodist Church, 144 W. Main St., Howard, will hold a Take Out Soup Sale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15. Soup choices are vegetable beef, ham and bean, chicken corn and chicken noodle. Cost is $7 quart. Take out only. Preorder by calling or texting 570-625-2182. Proceeds benefit those in need. LAMAR — Beginning Sunday, the Nittany Valley Charge United Church of Christ Sunday morning worship services will change to 9 a.m. for Emmanuel (Jacksonville) and 10:30 a.m. for Mt. Bethel/Salona (Lamar/Salona).
Mt Bethel/Salona will worship at Mt. Bethel that Sunday with the following Sunday service at Salona. Masks and social distancing are requested.
McELHATTAN — McElhattan United Methodist Church, 502 McElhattan Drive, McElhattan, will begin worshipping in the sanctuary starting this Sunday at 9:30 a.m..
No need to bring a chair, masks are required and ushers will be on hand to seat you with social distancing.
Fall Food Collection
FLEMINGTON — St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Flemington will be having a Fall Food Collection for the local Salvation Army.
The collection period will be Sunday, Oct. 11 through Sunday, Nov. 1. Oct. 11 will be canned vegetables, Oct. 19 will be instant mashed potatoes, Oct. 25 will be canned turkey gravy and Nov. 11 will be kid friendly soup (Please, no tomato soup or out of date items).
Blessing of the Pets
FLEMINGTON — St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Flemington will be offering a “Blessing of the Pets” outdoor service on Saturday, Oct. 17.
Interested parties may bring their pets to the church parking lot anytime between 1 and 3 p.m. Parking will be in the back of the lot and the blessing will take place in the front of the lot. All pets are welcome!
For the safety of others, please make sure that pets are in a carrier or on a leash. Pet owners are required to wear face coverings.
Aaron Kelly concert canceled
DUNNSTOWN — The Aaron Kelly Concert scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 11 at Dunnstown United Methodist Church has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is rescheduled fro Sunday, April 25, 2021.
Mercy Run in concert
LOGANTON — Join members of Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren, 2305 E. Winter Road, Loganton, for an outdoors gospel concert on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. Please bring your chairs.
Chicken and biscuit dinner
JERSEY SHORE — There will be a take-out-only chicken and biscuit dinner at the Oriole United Methodist Church, 39 Main Road, Jersey Shore, today from 4 to 7 p.m. Cost per meal is $6.50 for adults; $4 for children ages four to 12 years; and free for children under four.
FLEMINGTON — Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., will be holding a blood drive on Oct. 9 from 1 to 6 p.m. All types are needed.
BEECH CREEK — Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, 217 Main St., Beech Creek, will continue to hold Sunday worship services outside at 9 a.m. as long as the weather permits. Please bring a lawn chair, umbrellas and easy ups welcome. For more information contact the church office at 570-962-2732.
