Blessed is the nation
Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…
These United States of America are a nation under God.
I want you to take notice that America is under The Almighty God. We are not above. Our founding fathers were well aware of this scripture and established this nation for the Glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith, which is stated in the Mayflower Compact of November, 1630.
We have the privilege of being the only country to be established for the love of our God, and our reliance on Him.
George Washington’s inaugural address of 1789 included, “it would be peculiarly improper to omit in this first official act, my fervent supplications to the Almighty Being, who rules the universe, who presides in the councils of nations and whose providential aids can supply every human defect, that His benediction may consecrate to the liberties and happiness of the United States…” President Washington continued to acknowledge God as the Great Author of every public and private good and that God’s hand was upon our nation.
Even our motto ” In God We Trust” taken from a poem written by Francis Scott Key, recognizes the necessity of our trust in God.
All through the ages great men and women have given God the recognition of protection, inspiration and inventions for our nation. President Lincoln alluded to our Nation under God in his infamous Gettysburg address. President Eisenhower, who as the Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Forces in Europe, saw many incidents where his forces had to trust God during WWII. The list is long and true of those who trusted in God.
My question to you is, do you trust in God?
Is He your first source of information when going through any form of chaos? With the foundation that our country has had, it would appear that God has been true to us. But are we true to Him?
In proverbs 3:6/5 it reads “trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight.” The Word guarantees success when we trust in God.
God is not a man, that He should lie
( Numbers 23:19) We have God’s assurance of deliverance in John 14:1 when Jesus said, “Do not let your heart be troubled, Trust in God, trust in me also.”
As a mother of seven, I have often had to walk the talk and trust in God. We were often challenged with the loss of jobs for my husband. One Christmas things were extremely challenging and with only a few dollars I was mad at God because I felt He had not supplied my needs.
This was when I had to check my heart and search to see if I stood on what God said and trusted in Him or accept my situation and become depressed over it. Through my tears, when I felt God asking me if I trusted in Him, I replied, “where else can I go, you only have the truth.”
Within a few weeks a family member sent a box of presents for everyone in my family. God had instructed them to mail us the box. God was true to His word and it was His timing.
1Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety (fears) on Him, for He cares for you.”
We need to go back to trusting in God and stand with our founding fathers that did as well.
I will give you one more promise from God’s Love letter, the Bible, Jeremiah 17:7,” Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.
