Summer Concert Series
LAMAR — Lamar Lighthouse Camp will be hosting their Summer Concert series each Sunday evening at 6 p.m. Each of the concerts is free and open to the public. A love offering is taken each week to further the ministry of both the groups performing and Lamar Lighthouse Camp. The Hyssongs will be performing on July 20. Common Bond will perform on July 27. True North VBS
WOOLRICH — Caldwell and Woolrich UM Churches will be holding their Vacation Bible School TRUE NORTH the week of July 14-18 from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Woolrich Community Church, 1080 Park Avenue, Woolrich. Come explore the wonders of Alaska and learn about trusting Jesus in this wild world. A meal will be provided for those who attend.
Bible Study
LOCK HAVEN — God’s Eternal Life Church, 30 Woodward Ave., Lock Haven, is holding weekly Bible studies each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The topic will be Thru the Bible Word for Word. News from the Pathway pews
MCELHATTAN — Pathway to Christ Church volunteers will be making sticky buns again for pick-up at the church on Aug. 2. The sticky bun orders needed to be placed before July 18 by emailing Jane at cwhite173@comcast.net. Sticky buns should be picked up on Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The church will also be having a drive thru meal on Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and you can get your meal at the same time as picking up your sticky buns. The meal will consist of a pulled pork sandwich with slaw, baked beans, macaroni salad and cake. The cost will be whatever donation you can afford to provide.
Pathway to Christ Church will also be having a craft and small business vendor fair on Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors of all varieties are invited to set up in a 10′ X 10′ spot at this outside event. A vendor spot will cost $25. You’ll need to bring your own tables and shade canopies. Food will also be available in the church social hall during the vendor fair. The church wants to have a parking lot full of craft vendors and small business vendors for this sale. The church is located at 502 McElhattan Drive, McElhattan. Save those empty prescription pill bottles for Pathway to Christ Church. Over the next several months, members of the church will be collecting the pill bottles, removing (using WD40) the perscription labels, washing them thoroughly to make sure all of the label and sticky residue has been removed and then sending the clean bottles and caps to M2M in Blue Ash, Ohio.
Matthew 25 Ministries accepts the donations of clean, empty, recapped plastic pill bottles for inclusion in shipments of medical supplies. For more info visit Matthew 2 Ministries.
Blood Drives
Local churches will be hosting blood drives over the next several weeks. Blood donors of all types are invited to participate. To find a blood drive being held near you visit the American Red Cross website.
On July 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., a blood drive will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, Hughes St., Bellefonte.
On Aug. 12, from 12:30-6 p.m., at Wingate Faith Church, 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte, (behind the Sheetz store in Wingate near BEA schools.)
On Aug. 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Flemington First Church of Christ, Canal St., Mill Hall.
Homemade Ice Cream Social
LOGANTON — The Nittany/Sugar Valley United Methodist Charge will be holding the annual “Homemade Ice Cream Social” on July 19 from 4-7 p.m. at Booneville Campground, on Campground Road in Loganton.
In addition to homemade ice cream and pies, hot sausage sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be available.
Grief Support
LOCK HAVEN — Community Grief Support is a new opportunity for men and women to gather and seek help together. The next meeting will be on July 22.. The group will meet the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 6-7 p.m. in the lounge of Covenant United Methodist Church, 44-46 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
The support group is free, confidential and open to anyone. There is no work book to follow and no end date. It is designed to become an established, long-term program.
Sharon Gensib and Pamela Brauchli are the facilitators. They will open each session but the discussion will go where the group takes it.
Take out meal fundraiser
JERSEY SHORE — On Wednesday, July 23, beginning at 4 p.m., the Trinity United Methodist Church will be having a take out only meal. There will be ham bbq, baked beans, cole slaw, apple sauce and dessert for $8 per meal. Pick up at the Glover St entrance, Trinity UM Church, 1407 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. Sale will end at 6:30 p.m. or until all food is sold out.

LOCK HAVEN — The Walnut Street Church of Christ, 714 W. Walnut St., is inviting the area’s youth to our Vacation Bible School. The theme, “Heroes of the Faith,” is about those in the Bible with great faith. The VBS will be July 24-25 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. with a short program on July 27 at 11 a.m. There are two age groups: Ages 5-8 and 9-12. FLEMINGTON — Flemington First Church of Christ will host a FREE church family and community night on Sunday, July 27, beginning at 4:30 p.m. There will be free food, exciting games and activities, including s’mores, to end the evening. Everyone is invited!
