Central Mountain Boys Soccer

The Central Mountain High School Boys Soccer team has started off the season fairly well. The Wildcats competed in a tournament at the West Branch soccer complex on August 31st in which they finished 0-2 with loses to Loyalsock, 4-2, and State College, 1-0. Captain Jeremiah Thomas, a senior, reflected on his performance in the tournament by stating, “We could have done better if it were not for the lack of communication, but we put our hearts and our everything into the game, and I am proud, even after the outcome.”
Then the boys came back and beat Shikellamy twice, and in pretty good fashion. The first match we saw the Wildcats stomp Shickellamy 5-1 and with 2 goals from seniors Jeremiah Thomas and Trey Gentzel. In the second period of the game senior Jason Killinger also added a goal. They won the second 2-0 with goals from seniors Alec Leuthold and Trey Gentzal. On Thursday they played a hard game against Danville where they lost 2-0. Then, after the loss, the Wildcats bounced back to beat Mifflinburg 4-1. The Wildcats have had a few rough moments, but as Senior and co-caption Bryce Neff says, “My goal for the season is to make it to districts with my team.”
The coach of the boys soccer team, Billy Hook, also had lots to say regarding this season. Seeing as how Mr. Hook has been coaching for seven years now his goal for the team is to improve from last year and to make district playoffs. After that, when asked about what he thinks is the best trait his team has this year compared to other teams he coached before Hook says, “The camaraderie of the team is very good, and they have been one of the best teams in that aspect.”. I asked what he thought was the biggest differences were from this team to previous teams and he said they had a lot of experience compared to previous teams as we have a lot of returning lettermen. He also stated that the team was very hard-working.
Some games are key for the Wildcats like the ones against Jersey Shore, Williamsport, and Bellefonte. They look too continue their good season in future games. Good luck to the wildcats as they continue their quest for playoffs.
