Search continues for body in river

RENOVO – First responders continued searching for a reported body in the West Branch of the Susquehanna River today.

A call came into the Clinton County 911 Center about 12:10 p.m. saying a person was in the river at Renovo.

Rescue crews responded immediately and began fanning out along the river as far south as Baker’s Run.

The river was moving fast today after an overnight rain.

Volunteers from Renovo, Lock Haven, Avis and ambulances were summoned to the scene.

Several companies with rescue boats put personnel on the water, which was treacherous as it still contains ice.

Residents gathered along the riverbank and watched at Renovo.

There were reports in Renovo that a man had jumped off the river bridge connecting Renovo and South Renovo, but officials would not comment or provide any information this afternoon.
