Regatta boat races postponed until 2021

LOCK HAVEN – Another annual event has been postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was announced Thursday that the 50th Annual Jaycees Regatta boat races will be rescheduled for Sept. 4 through 6 in 2021, according to the Delaware Valley Outboard Racing Association.

Although boat racing has been canceled, according to a press release from the association there was no word on whether the Jaycees would still hold their carnival.

“No decision has been made on if the Lock Haven Area Jaycees will host the annual carnival this year, but we are extremely thankful for all of their support over the last fifty years,” board president Dave Breisacher said. “We would like to support the Jaycees in any way we can at this time and look forward to working with them on putting together an outstanding 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2021.”

The Jaycees plan to meet next Wednesday to discuss their options, according to a statement on their Facebook page Thursday night.

“The Lock Haven Area Jaycees are sad over this news, but grateful DVORA for keeping safety first and keeping us informed in every step of the process,” the statement said.
