Gordon L. “Bud” Barner

Gordon L. “Bud” Barner ,80 years young, slipped away quietly at his home surrounded by the people who meant the most to him; his wife of 61 years, Pat; two sons, two daughters and his best ” furbaby”, Molly.

Born Feb. 7, 1937 in Mill Hall, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Nancy E. Barner. He was a 1955 graduate of the Mill Hall High School.

Bud was a heavy equipment operator starting his career right out of high school with McCormack Construction. Later he joined the Operating Engineers Union and finished his career of 40 years with Nestlerode Contracting as a crane operator. After retirement he enjoyed part-time work with Benson and Sam Probst Excavating, with his “big boy” toys.

Bud also enjoyed hunting and spending time with his children, grandchildren and pets.

Bud was a veteran having served in the Pa. Army National Guard. Bud and his wife, the former Patricia L. Neff, were married Aug. 4, 1956. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Tammy L. (Tom) Butler, of Loganton and Terri L. Butler (Mark Walizer), of Lock Haven; two sons, Rodney L. (Dawn) Barner, of Blanchard and Ricky Jo (Joyce) Barner, of Mill Hall; one sister, Pearl Layman, of Northumberland; one brother, Jimmy H. (Sandra) Barner, Mill Hall; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Haffley and Marie Rogers amd three brothers, Clifford, Raymond and Grover Barner.

At Bud’s request, services will be held at the convenience of the family and there will be no visitation.

Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to either Help for Pets or the Clinton County SPCA through the funeral home.
