Joyce C. Gill

Joyce C. Gill, 60, of Liverpool, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Born on May 26, 1957 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Sheldon Caris and Mildred “Millie” Winslow Caris Karichner.

Joyce attended Lock Haven High School.

In 1977, she married Richard E. “Dick” Gill, with whom she celebrated 40 years of marriage.

Over the years she was employed by Holiday Inn, Lamar and then Lastda, Williamsport.

Joyce was a member of the Salvation Army, Lock Haven.

She had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, camping, boating, hiking, painting, and drawing. Joyce especially enjoyed racing at the Clinton County Speedway where she once came in 10th place out of 50 participants.

Joyce had two special pets: her dogs Cocoa, who passed away, and presently, Buddy.

Along with her husband, Dick, of Liverpool, she is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Judith “Judi” Caris Young and David R. Young, Jr. of North Carolina; eight nieces and nephews and their children; and many cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne L. and Steve A. Caris.

A funeral service will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, with Kathy Deavor of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home today from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions in Joyce’s name may be made to Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute through the funeral home.
