Edna Hannegan

Edna Marie Traeger Hannegan of Bellefonte, died March 16, 2018 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College, after 93 years 10 months and 4 days of living life to the fullest.

Edna, formerly of Boynton Beach, Fla., was born May 12, 1924, in McKeesport, to Edward Louis and Olive Christine Larson Traeger. She graduated from McKeesport Technical High School, Class of 1942.

She and classmate Dale Leonard Hannegan wed May 21, 1947 and shared 31 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1978.

She pursued a business career working with bank securities, serving as an executive administrative assistant. In retirement, she was self-employed as both an independent beauty consultant and a pet care service provider.

Survivors are sons Robert Alan Hannegan (Susan Bossert Hannegan), Mill Hall, and Billy Dale Hannegan (Christine Carolyn Yost), Lancaster; grandchildren Lara Elizabeth Hannegan of Bellefonte, Erin Rebecca Hannegan (Joseph A. D’Alfi) of Charlottesville, Va., Kathryn Hannegan Walker (Joseph A. Walker) of Pleasant Gap, Travis Edward Yost Hannegan of Lancaster, Elizabeth Carrie Yost Hannegan of Philadelphia, and Lucas William Yost Hannegan of Lancaster; and great-grandchildren Calogero Aidan D’Alfi and AÏda Irene D’Alfi of Charlottesville, Va.

Also, sisters Lois Otilla Croy of Laurel, Md. and Olive Ruth “Jimmie” Croft of North Huntington, and brother Don Paul Traeger, Banning, Pa.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Raymond “Brub” Traeger.

Edna was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Bellefonte and the congregation’s Young at Heart Sunday School Class. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Boynton Beach, Fla., and the congregation’s Sonshine Sunday School Class.

A memorial service at Faith United Methodist Church, Bellefonte and interment in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Township, Pa. will be announced at a later time.
