Dale Eugene Fryer, Sr.

Dale Eugene Fryer, Sr., 67, of Avis, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Jersey Shore Hospital.

Dale was born in Jersey Shore on May 19, 1951, the son of the late Dale Earnest and Beverly Signor Fryer.

He was a 1969 graduate of Jersey Shore High School.

Dale was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guards and Army Reserves, serving from 1971 to 1979, where he obtained a certification in mechanics.

On June 17, 1972, at the Avis United Methodist Church, he married the former Dawn Dauberman, whom survives.

Dale began his career as a truck driver as a teenager, working for McCormick Dray Lines, Inc. of Muncy, Powers Trucking, of Lock Haven, and Woolever Brothers Transportation, of Montoursville. He then worked as a mechanic and school bus driver for Susquehanna Transit of Avis until his retirement in 2013.

He was a past member of the Avis Fire Company.

Dale was a train enthusiast–a passion that began as a young child. He was also an avid sports fan and had a special love for the game of baseball–playing in his early years and umpiring Little League and Junior League games in his adult years.

Most of all, Dale adored his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Green; three brother-in-laws, Don Green, Ronnie (Jeanne) Dauberman and Joe Garvey; a sister-in-law, Judy (Glenn) Keen and his father-in-law, Donald Dauberman.
