Samuel G. Hoy, Jr.

Samuel G. Hoy, Jr., 70, of 211 South Water Street, Mill Hall, Pa., died Aug. 9, 2019 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center, State College, Pa.

Born May 22, 1949 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Samuel G. and Betty Bottorf Hoy. On Sept. 21, 1990, in Mill Hall, he married Karla J. Allen who survives at home.

Sam was a 1968 graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany High School and a 1973 graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Industrial Arts and had a certificate in Civil Engineering.

He was a member and immediate past president of the Kiwanis Club of Mill Hall, a member of the Mill Hall Borough Council, Mill Hall Borough Planning Commission, a member of Lafayette Lodge 199, F & AM,-Lock Haven, Lock Haven Moose Lodge # 100 and Co-owner of Camp Keg. He was named Republican of the Year in 2015 and with his wife, Karla, was named Co-Republicans of the Year in 2016. Sam loved his dogs and enjoyed watching Fox News, PSU football, Steelers football, hunting and “telling people how to do everything.”

He is survived by two daughters, Lori (Anthony) Bruno, Jr., of Woolrich, Pa., and Amy Quiggle, of Mill Hall, Pa.; one son, Samuel G. (Sara) Hoy, III, of Mill Hall, Pa.; four grandchildren, Hunter and Sophia Hoy, and Courtney and Kylie Quiggle.

A Memorial Service honoring the life of Samuel G. Hoy, Jr. will be held Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. in the Dean K. Wetzler, Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main Street, Mill Hall, Pa. with Donna Batschlet officiating. Friends will be received in the funeral home from 5:30 p.m. until time of services.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Clinton Co. SPCA through the funeral home.
