Patricia C. Beury
Thanksgiving Eve, Nov. 27, 2019, Patricia C. Beury 87, of 878 Pine Mountain Road, Lock Haven, Pa. passed over to be with our Lord Jesus and her husband of 65 years. She went to sleep peacefully surrounded by her family in the home they built together in the Village of Pine Station.
Patricia was a Lock Haven High School Business graduate in 1949. Her career began at Sylvania, The Lock’s Restaurant, Cole Layer & Tremble in the Clinton County Tax Assessment Office, The First National Bank as the Secretary to the president, and ended her career after 25 years at Hammer Mill Paper Company. She then enjoyed more than 30 years of retirement with her husband and family.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband Raman F. Beury were her parents William C. & Helen L. Peasley, her brothers Richard, Carl (Mick) E. Peasley and George (Sonny) W. Peasley. Surviving are her sister Shirley G. Myers, her cousin Billie Luke and many cousins, nieces and nephews, three children, Ray (& Phyllis) Beury, Fred (& Robin) Beury, Jan Castellani (& Gene Baker). Nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Most important to Patricia was her family. She loved cooking, baking and entertaining them all. She made sure no one left hungry or without a snack or a complete meal to take home. She enjoyed dancing with her husband from ballroom to being part of the Star Dust Twirler a square dance group. She had an active life style including horseback riding on our beloved ‘Sugar Babe”, snowmobiling, snow skiing, ice skating, boating, water skiing, & swimming. It was common to find her & Raman just sitting and relaxing at their swimming pool or floating while holding hands.
She liked arts & crafts especially making holiday themed ceramics with the entire family when the kids were younger. Later during retirement making “Family Prayer Necklace” with birthday gemstones. She wore it with much pride and gratitude to God for all of them.
Preferring books to movies, Patricia was an avid reader of the Lock Haven Express morning newspaper and working crossword puzzles, even timing herself on how quick she could compete it daily. She liked a variety of authors from mystery, suspense, Amish life and The Readers Digest books.
Her love for God and family was the cornerstone of her life and these principles guided her through service on The Keystone Central School Board, The Clinton County Women’s Center, The Pine Station United Methodist Church and The McElhattan United Methodist Church. Patricia and Raman had an integral role in the merger of Pine, Youngdale & McElhattan Methodist churches and she served as the church historian.
Patricia & Raman spent many years on their own family history too, researching both their family genealogy. And in the process traced, their roots back to the early 1600’s with information leading to the discovery of the first white settlers among the native American Indians in Kettle Creek, Pa. and one of the documented accused witches killed in Salem, Mass.
Patricia was the family peace maker and glue that kept us all together. She was, is and will always be loved deeply by all of us and missed greatly.
