Richard H. Kuntz

Richard H. “Dick” Kuntz, 85, of Lock Haven, passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019 at Haven Skilled Rehabilitation and Nursing.

He was born in Lock Haven on Sept. 10, 1934, the son of the late Raymond E. and Marian I. Shaffer Kuntz.

On June 18, 1960 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Lock Haven, Dick married the former Barbara Guerreiro, who preceded him in death on May 11, 2011.

Dick was a 1952 graduate of Lock Haven High School. Upon graduation, he enrolled in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1952 to 1955. After he returned home from service, he attended Lycoming College, Williamsport, graduating in 1959.

Dick served the community as a self-employed accountant for many years.

He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish, attending St. Agnes Catholic Church. He was a member of the Beech Creek Legion and a past member of the Notre Dame Football Club.

Dick was an avid sports fan, especially of Notre Dame. He also enjoyed following local sports teams and athletes. In addition, he served as a baseball umpire for many years from the Little League level through the Legion Baseball League level. He was an accomplished cook and had catered many local class reunions and other events over the years.

He is survived by three sons, James (Vanessa) of Chambersburg, Jeff (Michelle) of Butler and Robert (Patti) of W. Va.; three daughters, Jean (Craig Morris) Kuntz of Fla., Beth (Mark) Perryman of Howard and Tina (Dale) Groce of Pittsburgh; two brothers, Raymond and Jack Kuntz; two sisters, Mary Pat Zimmerman and Rita Clark; seventeen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard J. Kuntz; four brothers, Paul, Edward, William and Charles Kuntz; and three sisters, Beryl Ingui, Jospehine Dozier and Barbara Barzona.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3 E. Walnut St., Lock Haven, Pa. 17745. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Lock Haven.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa. 17745.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Holy Spirit Catholic Parish or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
