Joseph Harold Bickel
Joseph Harold Bickel passed away peacefully Feb. 4, 2020 at the age of 89 with family by his side at the Susque View Home, Lock Haven. Born April 13, 1930 in Lock Haven to Joseph J. Bickel and Dorothy M. Barner. He and his wife Gwen (Kline) Bickel were married for 67 years.
Joe was a graduate of Lock Haven High School and Williamsport Area Community College and had served in the U.S. Army 1952-53 in Germany. He was employed as a diesel mechanic from 1955 to 1992 at McCormick Dray Line in Avis and Muncy, Pa. Mr. Bickel was a member of the Lighthouse Wesleyan Church in Jersey Shore, Pa. and had been a member and treasurer of the Woolrich Volunteer Fire Company for many years as well as a very active member in the Nittany Antique Machinery Association. Joe was a well known participant in local antique shows and parades with his 1952 Ford F6 truck and collection of antique tractors. He was a long time member of the West Branch Hunting Club.
Surviving are his wife Gwen, son Kurt K. Bickel and wife Luann, daughter Nancy J. and husband Jonathan W. Sakowski, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, two sisters Fairy Jean Briening and husband Jim, Metta Williamson, one brother Shuman B. Bickel. Preceded in death by a brother-in-law James Williamson and sister-in-law Patricia Bickel.
Private services for Joseph Harold Bickel will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Services are under the direction of the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
