Marietta (Mary) Magdalin Herr Meyers Estes

Marietta (Mary) Magdalin Herr Meyers Estes 84, passed early Sunday morning.

Married to James Meyers, and Darius Estes. In addition to her husband’s and parents, she was preceded in death by a son James Meyers, five brothers: William, Charles, Floyd, Lewis and Claude Herr, and three sisters, Grace Louise Askey, Lula Bianchi and Beulah (Mickey) Caprio.

Marietta attended Lock Haven Senior High School, she worked at various jobs in the Lock Haven area, including as a Courier for the Lock Haven Express, and for Castilio Cleaning before enlisting in the U.S. Army Reserves, and serving eight years including a tour of duty in Germany attaining the rank of Specialist Four.

She was born at Clarence, Pa., on Aug. 27, 1935. She is survived by three daughters, Mary L. Bronson of Canton, Pa., Alice Meyers of Fort Pompano Beach, Fla., and Cheryl Holman Oklahoma City, Okla., and a sister Cecilia Eileen (Russ) Berthot of White Plains, Md., and several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ of Lock Haven, and also served as Chaplain for the Lock Haven American Legion Post 131 for a number of years. Mary also enjoyed being involved in supporting local candidates during election years.

Marietta was quite independent, a patriot and intensely proud of her and her family’s military service.

Funeral Services with Full Military Honors for Marietta (Mary) Estes will be held on Wednesday Feb. 12, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC., 121 W. Main St. Lock Haven. Officiating will be Pastor Susan Champion of the Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church in Mill Hall. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Schenck Cemetery in Howard. Online thoughts and memories can be made at
