Dorothy N. Stuart

Dorothy N. Stuart, 88, of West Walnut St. Lock Haven went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at Manor Care North in Williamsport. She was born Dec. 31, 1931 in Shamokin, Pa. to the late Harry and Gertrude Derk Wary. Dorothy was united in marriage to the late Derwood H. Schoonover in June of 1959. She then remarried Donald C. Stuart on Dec. 18, 1964 who preceded her in death April 4, 1992.

Dorothy was a 1949 graduate of the Shamokin High School. She was a graduate of NYACK Christian College where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Christian education and teaching. She had taught school for the York Elementary School for one year. She was a girl scout leader in the 60’s and served as the President of the Renovo Republican Women’s party in the 70’s. Dorothy served as the secretary and treasurer for Noyes Township. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Renovo Hospital and Renovo YMCA. She worked for John W. Whiting, Jr. Accounting and served as the Clinton County Register and Recorder. Dorothy retired in 2001 from the Clinton County Correctional Facility where she worked as the bookkeeper for several years.

Dorothy lived for her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed her daily devotionals, church, singing in the choir and working with children in Child Evangelism Fellowship. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family. Other hobbies included watching college football games every Saturday, the news and game shows.

Dorothy is survived by a son, Raymond D. Schoonover (Cheryl) of Lock Haven. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Sarah (Schoonover) Druckemiller (David) of Bellefonte and Joshua Schoonover (Michelle) of Linden. She has two great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Remington Schoonover and two “granddogs” as she would call them, Chance and Teenster. Dorothy was very close with her family.

Dorothy leaves her family and friends with this testament, “Trust in the Lord. Keep trusting in Him. We will see each other in Heaven.” Dorothy was preceded in death by a sister, Alice E. Dale of York, Pa.

A private graveside funeral service for Dorothy N. Stuart will be held on Friday, March 27, at 2:30 p.m. at the North Bend Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor James Yost. Interment will be in the North Bend Cemetery.
