Robert J. Dutcavich

Robert J. Dutcavich, 81, of 149 Circle Drive, Lock Haven, died June 23, 2020 at his home.

Born June 25, 1938 in Shamokin, Pa. he was the son of the late John A. and Helen B. Yasalonis Dutcavich.

He was a 1957 graduate of the Shamokin Joint High School and a 1958 graduate of the McAllister School of Mortuary Science in New York City.

Bob served in the US Army from Sept. 26, 1961 until Feb. 19, 1963 and was a Personnel Specialist at Fort Wayne, Detroit, Mich.

On Jan. 11, 1967 in Holy Cross Church, Brooklyn, N.Y. he was united in marriage to Antonia F. (Toni) Del Grippo. He and his family moved to Lock Haven in February of 1970.

Mr. Dutcavich had been a licensed funeral director since August 1961. He was employed as a funeral director in several funeral homes in New York City as well as in New York state. Bob received his Pennsylvania Funeral Directors license in September of 1976.

He was employed as an over the road truck driver for the former M.G. Fidler Trucking of Salona from May 9, 1970 until May 8, 1972 and for the former Eazor Express of Loganton from May 8, 1972 until Feb. 28, 1982.

In September of 1982 he was offered a position of funeral director with the Patrick R. Moriarity Funeral Home, Lock Haven until he and his wife, Antonia, purchased the business from Patrick and Veronica Moriarity on Jan. 9, 1985. He retired on Jan. 14, 2002 after 17 years.

Following his retirement, he was associated with the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, Lock Haven and the Dean K. Wetzler, Jr. Funeral Home, Mill Hall.

He had been a member of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Parish, Lock Haven, a former member and past President of the Lock Haven Rotary Club, Third Degree and Life Member of Lock Haven Council 1774, Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree and Life Member of Our Lady of Victory Assembly 1945 Knights of Columbus, State College, Lodge Giouse Carducci No. 146 Sons of Italy, Lock Haven, Life Member and Past Exalted Ruler No. 182 and a Life Member of Liberty Hose Company No. 2, Shamokin, Pa.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Michael J. Dutcavich, Lock Haven and one granddaughter, Kristen B. Dutcavich and one grandson, Brian M. Dutcavich, both of Woolrich, Pa. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert J. Dutcavich, who died May 29, 1992 and a brother, John J. Dutcavich of Minersville, Pa., who died June 9, 1988.

A funeral mass honoring the life of Robert J. Dutcavich will be celebrated Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 11 a.m. in Holy Spirit Parish, St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Lock Haven with Father Joseph Orr officiating. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends will be received in the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2020.

A Sons of Italy Memorial Service will be held at 5:30 p.m., an Elks Memorial Service at 8 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus Memorial Service at 8:30 p.m.
