Allen L. “Al” Saar

Allen L. “Al” Saar, 82, husband of Janice (Glossner) Saar of 21 W. Summit St., Jersey Shore, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center, Jersey Shore.

Born in Williamsport on June 8, 1938 he was the son of the late Elmer E. and Lauretta (Dufferd) Saar.

Al honorably served his country in the United States Air Force.

Janice and Al were wed on Sept. 30, 1960 and shared over 60 years of marriage together.

He retired as an over the road truck diver and for many years was employed by Clinton Paper Co., Lock Haven.

Al enjoyed camping and family vacations, playing cards and watching kids play sports.

He especially loved and enjoyed his dog “Prince” and his cat “Julie.”

Along with his wife he is survived by two sons, Tim (Amy) Saar, Jersey Shore and Tom (Kimberly) Saar, Lock Haven, two daughters Karen Crust (Terry), Jersey Shore and Susan Leitz (Rick) of Farmington, Missouri, three brothers Edward (Joan) Saar of Williamsport, William Saar (Judy) of Lock Haven and David Saar of Lock Haven, a sister Mary Prince (Ray) of Jersey Shore, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother Freddy Saar.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov. 23, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the Pine Creek Valley Christian Church, 26 Locomo Ln, Jersey Shore, (17740) with Rev. Ron Savits officiating. A viewing will be held in the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service. Private Interment will be held in Jersey Shore Cemetery. If desired memorials may be made in Al’s name to the church.

The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements the Wayne P. Urbine Funeral Home, Inc., 408 South Main St., Jersey Shore.
