Robert Welty, Sr.

Robert Welty, Sr., 91, passed away on Sept. 20, 2021 at Cedar Grove Respiratory and Nursing Home in Williamstown, N.J.

Robert was born to the late Ruth Toner (Cashner) and later adopted by his aunt, the late Dorothy (Toner) Welty (Stamm).

Robert was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Jessie Anna Welty (Dexter). They were married on Sept. 13, 1952.

Robert was also predeceased by his brother, John Cashner, and his sisters, Shirley Rhine (Cashner) and Judith Harter-Wary (Cashner). Also by his sister-in-law, Muriel Coffey (Dexter).

Robert is survived by his son, Robert Welty, Jr., his daughter, Donna Lee Robinson (Mark), and his son, Curtis Frederick Welty (Peggy Sue).

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Joseph (Tina) Robinson, Peter (Catherine) Robinson, James (Patria) Robinson, Elyse (Stephen) Juray, and Tobias and Lilly Welty.

Robert is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Kacie and Richard Reynolds; Nicholas, Paige, Brooke and Jack Robinson; and Ian and Ryan Juray.

Robert served 20 1/2 years in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Germany, Okinawa, Alaska, Texas, Delaware, New Jersey, Wyoming, Illinois, Colorado, Ohio and Alabama. He also served three tours in Vietnam.

After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for Parts Distrtibutor and Helvoet Pharma until he retired.

Robert taught Sunday School and was an usher at Bethel Church in Camden. He later became a member of Pennsauken Methodist Church until he was unable to go.

Robert enjoyed giving of his time to the Cub and Boy Scouts. He also enjoyed helping people out by taking them to their doctor appointments and helping them out how he could.

He loved doing crafts and his favorites were leather work and making beaded crosses, which he gave away to anyone who would like them.

Robert and his wife, Jessie, enjoyed playing Pinochle with their dear friends, Charles and Jean Kammler. They played every Friday for many years. Now they have their foursome together again.

Robert loved his Lord with his whole heart and is now in His arms and reunited with his wife, Jessie.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. at Inglesby & Sons Funeral Home at 2426 Cove Road, Pennsauken, N.J. A service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with a burial at Bethel Memorial Park in Pennsauken, N.J.
