Darlene E. Nihart Brush
Darlene E. Nihart Brush, 70, of Lamar, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 15, 1952 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Daryl Nihart and Ruby Kramer Nihart who survives.
Darlene was a 1970 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School and then earned her LPN degree from CPI in Pleasant Gap in 1972.
She was employed by Woolrich at both the Howard and Blanchard plants.
Darlene owned and operated Darby’s Gifts and crafts for many years, making wedding flowers and cakes. After closing her shop, she worked at Scot’s Lo Cost, Walmart and Weis as a cake decorator.
She was a lover of crafting, flea markets, auctions, collecting and loving on her “babies” (her grandchildren). They were her pride and joy; and they will always hold a special place in their hearts for their Mammy.
Darlene was of Christian faith and was often known for her ability to connect to higher powers.
She was loved by all who knew her. Her quick wit and humor made many people smile and laugh. Her commercial Facebook posts were always anticipated and enjoyed by all of her friends.
Darlene was a devoted daughter, taking care of her mother, Ruby, for the last 24 years, even during her diagnosis and treatments for cancer. She was a fighter and spent the past year battling ovarian cancer. Darlene was blessed with her sister-in law, Linda, who took her to many appointments and helped out in many ways during her battle.
In addition to her mother, Ruby Nihart, she is survived by her daughter, Jodie (Andy) Wertz, of Lamar, and their daughters, Peri and Presley Evans; and a grandson, D. Skyy Loveless, of Maryland.
Also surviving are her brothers, David W. (Linda) Nihart, of Howard, and Charlie (Cindy) Nihart, of Beech Creek; a niece, Nicole (Luke) Ebeling, of Bellefonte; and nephews, David (Katie) Nihart, of Mill Hall, and Lee (Marcy) Henninger, of Howard.
Along with her father, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shawna Rae Loveless-Moison, in 2014.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Nittany Valley fire hall on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 5 until 8 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.
