Great to see strong investment in our health-care system
We need to take care of ourselves and others.
In that spirit, we’re grateful to see Geisinger erect a new medical clinic between the downtown and Lock Haven University campus.
Recently, Geisinger took a moment to ceremonially erect the final steel beam to the clinic behind the Fairfield Inn & Suites.
Located at Spring and West Fourth streets in Lock Haven, the building is part of the clinical joint venture between Geisinger and Highmark Health.
It’s part of a combined $100 million investment the two organizations are making to improve existing clinical facilities, develop new ones, expand services and improve access to care across the region. They’re also building a new clinic along Route 180, at the Route 220 exit just past Lycoming Mall.
When complete, the local medical clinic will offer a walk-in urgent care center, pharmacy, adult and pediatric primary care offices and imaging and lab services. It will also house physical and occupational therapy and a specialty clinic with dermatology, cardiology, gastroenterology, surgery and women’s health services.
UPMC, meanwhile, continues to heavily invest in Lock Haven Hospital on Cree Drive and its outpatient clinic and offices at McElhattan, just off Route 220.
These investments — the commitment to better health care — should be peace of mind for us all.
