Each Saturday, The Express community newspaper highlights people, groups and activities our readers deem worthy of applause.
A huge and sincere THANK YOU to mutual aid units who helped Monday with the tragic fire in Cross Fork. Chapman Station 27, South Renovo 28 and Renovo 29, plus Germania 19 from Potter County. We could not have done it without you. All these volunteers were so greatly appreciated. Great example of what mutual aid is all about, neighbors helping neighbors. Susquehannock Forestry crew gets many kudos for handling the forest fire. Kettle Creek Hose Company #1 is grateful to all.
As our communities get back to holding or at least trying to hold public events — concerts, fundraisers and the like — in our parks, forests, entertainment venues and in our downtowns — I want to extend a big THANK YOU in advance to the volunteers who make all of these wonderful events possible. We’re fearful that many people may be stepping aside, so to speak, to help due to the experiences they’ve had and risk to COVID-19. If so, get your vaccine, please. Don’t continue to let Clinton County be among the least-vaccinated counties in Pennsylvania. None of us should be proud of that!

CONGRATULATIONS to Cheyenne Hunsberger for her catch on opening day of fishing season. A lot of local fishermen are also curious, was your father Daryl able to catch anything?
