It’s debate time!

LEIGH-ANNE CONGDON

Mill Hall

With all the attention on national politics and candidates in the upcoming election this year, it’s easy to lose track of our local representatives. But they are important, and we deserve to hear from them.

The League of Women Voters (LWV) hosts candidate forums and debates every election season, and especially for local representatives, participating in these events is one of the best ways to get to know the candidates, learn about their views and plans, assess their character and ability, ask questions about issues that are important to you, and discover issues that are important to your neighbors.

Candidates and voters alike have a responsibility to attend or pay attention to these candidate forums/debates.

This year, the LWV has invited both Mike Hanna Jr. and Stephanie Borowicz, both running for State Representative in Pennsylvania’s 76th District, to participate in a debate in Centre County this month.

Hanna has agreed to attend. Borowicz has not yet responded.

Public debate … good for the candidates, good for the voters.
