I read an opinion article recently titled, “Every state should pass a medical aid-in-dying law,” by Kim Callinan.
I found it to be an interesting read because it’s something that we all have probably thought of but never think to discuss.
I’ve worked in direct care since I was a freshman in college (2011) and I enjoy taking care of our elderly citizens. I’ve lost numerous residents-clients and after reading this article and thinking about some of those people, I think that some of them would have made the request to take the prescription pill to pass away peacefully in their sleep rather than suffer until their death.
I agree with Kim Callinan that we should all urge lawmakers in every state to authorize this option without further delay!
