Clowns to the Left
It has been said that no tyrant has ever risen to power promising tyranny.
I believe that this is only partially true. No would-be tyrant ever promises tyranny by name. What they promise is what people should, but often do not, see for the tyranny it is.
What I have heard from the Democratic Presidential field is promises of tyranny.
They are all promising government takeovers of healthcare, financial institutions and numerous other private institutions, and taking away rights in the interest of public safety.
These are the same things that tyrants have promised for the last century, but those who don’t know history, or think somehow it will be different this time refuse to learn the lesson.
They refuse to understand that what government pays for, government controls.
They haven’t grasped the fact that government control is the opposite of personal freedom.
People who want the government to control giant corporations somehow believe that people who work for profit from meeting people’s needs and desires are less trustworthy than those who desire power over them.
They can’t see that corporations prosper from the voluntary decisions of customers, while politicians prosper from the use of force to gain compliance with dictates.
Thomas Jefferson said, “I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.”
Many people advocate infringements on first, second, fourth, fifth and sixth amendments to the constitution in the interest of the public safety.
This would be bad enough if there was good evidence that it would work, but we have no such evidence only a vague idea that something has to be done.
These tyrant wannabees encourage the sacrificing of these rights because it gives them the power they crave. Those who would like to give them the chance should remember the words of Benjamin Franklin, “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”
In addition, history proves again and again that those giving up freedom to gain safety, end up with neither.
Do we want to be those people?
