If you don’t test, the disease will go away: The hypocrisy of No. 45

While there has been state and local testing for COVID-19, President Trump has ordered federal testing to stop in certain states, including Pennsylvania.

Recently, Dr. Anthony Fauci and other experts testified as to the importance of testing.

Stopping testing for the virus to say there is no virus is like telling women to stop getting mammograms and pap smears to indicate the eradication of those cancers. It’s like telling men not to get tested for prostrate cancer so that disease also can disappear.

Maybe if there were no dentists, there would be no cavities, and if we got rid of eye doctors, we would not need glasses and no one would be blind!

One has to wonder why the president would want people to not test.

If you ignore a problem, it will go away.

All the experts, who the president has ignored, have said the importance of wearing masks, staying six feet away from each other and being outside as the best way to be with others who are not family.

By having indoor rallies, not wearing masks, and being close together yelling at each other, as the president has chosen to do now twice, shows there is not a disease.

The timing of this is awful as there has been a spike in cases where these practices have not been encouraged and have been avoided. I guess this is not a surprise. His hypocrisy is legendary — a man who loves the military and did not serve due to bone spurs. A demeanor of immigrants, except for two of his wives. Denouncing immigrant families being together (chain migration), except for his in-laws. Tear gassing peaceful protesters, telling them to disperse, except for the gathering at this rallies. And holding a Bible in front of a church when his practices conflict with the idea of helping those in need.

Leviticus 19 says in part as follows:

“When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field … Leave them for the poor and the foreigner … Do not steal … Do not lie… Do not deceive one another… Do not defraud or rob your neighbor… Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind… Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly… Do not go about spreading slander among your people… Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life… Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in their guilt… Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself…”

Maybe instead of holding the Bible, he should open and read it
