Fresh Air information

Lock Haven

I am writing in response to Carole Anderson’s letter to the editor in The Express on July 14 entitled, “What happened to the Fresh Air children?”

I volunteered for the Fresh Air Fund for over 25 years and resigned from my position as Fund Rep/Lock Haven Chairperson in 2016.

I was unable to find volunteers to assist, or take over the position at that time.

They could use volunteers in this area.

I’m sure that, if one would call the office in New York City, you would be able to find an address for the child that you hosted and I would recommend that you call 1-800-367-0003, or get on the website for information, and that can be found at www.Freshair.org.

I do know that with the COVID pandemic that there were no children sent to homes last year or this year, but I feel sure that next year they will resume that practice, and it is very rewarding, both to host a child and to volunteer.

You will be glad you did.

The Fresh air Fund was started in 1877, and I am hoping that it continues for the sake of the children in New York City.
