It was a great weekend with lots of Memorial races being held. At Port Royal, it was the Bob Weikert Memorial and the Fallen Heroes Championship Race. Lucas Wolfe won for the second year in a row, collecting $10,000 and the bragging rights for the prestigious event. In the Northeast Ultimate Super Late Model Series feature, York’s Rick Eckert completed a clean sweep of weekend late model action at the track, scoring a convincing win in the 35-lap main that paid $5,000 to win. On the Saturday night preliminary event, it was all about Lance Dewease, winning for the 109th time at Port Royal and it came aboard a Walt Dyer Masonry No. 461 throwback car painted to mirror the mount he drove for Dyer decades ago. Rick Eckert took the win in the Fallen Heroes Championship for the Northeast Ultimate Super Late Model Series.

Down at Williams Grove, it was another tribute race honoring Walt Dyer, and Steve Buckwalter claimed his ninth career sprint car win, Austin Bishop likewise wired the field in the 305 sprint main to pick up his second 305 win of the season.

Meanwhile over at Hummingbird Speedway, Mike Anderson of Dubois cruised his way to victory lane in the Pure Stocks first feature event. Zach Myers of Knox picked up his second win of the season in the semi-late division, but it was a persistent Mother Nature that would steal the show for the last three events of the evening.

Down at Selinsgrove they were honoring Jack Gunn in a Memorial for 360 sprint cars and Davie Franek was the victor for the second time this year. Bryan Bernheisel of Lebanon and Gene Knaub of York raced side-by-side during the final five laps of the 25-lap super late model race with Bernheisel edging out Knaub by just .69 of a second for his second win of the season at the track.

At Bedford Speedway, Jeff Rine rallied late to snag the win as the annual Memorial Day weekend. The event, a tribute this year to the memories of Johnny Grum and Turk Burket, was 35 laps and worth $3,000 to the Bob Elbin owned team. Rine’s 24th career win at the track places him solidly fourth on the all time list. Mike Altobelli Jr. completely dominated the Emod 35 lapper, scoring yet another win and Shawn Shoemaker held off most of the Weyandt family to take his first ever Pure Stock win.

See you at the races!
