Four new coaches round out LHU Football staff

LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven University football team has announced the addition of four new assistant coaches to the coaching staff. Cortez Carter, Marshall Hall, Mat Turner and Shane Baker will all join the staff this fall under head coach Dave Taynor.

This group brings coaching experience at all three levels of collegiate football to go along with the many accolades they collected as both coaches and players at the high school and college levels.

Cortez Carter

(Special Teams Coordinator/

Defensive Backs)

Carter graduated from Marshall University in 2014 with a degree in Business Administration before getting his masters in Adult Continuing Education in 2017. He was a four-year letterman for the Marshall football team and helped lead The Thundering Herd to three bowl game victories.

While getting his masters, Carter served as a graduate assistant coach for Marshall’s football program. He worked as a Wide Receivers coach for the team in 2016 before working with the Defensive Backs in 2017.

Most recently, Carter served as the special team’s coordinator and defensive line coach for Lawrence University.

Carter also served as an assistant coach for Brooke Point High School in 2015, serving as the Linebackers coach.

Marshall Hall

(Defensive Line)

Hall graduated from Bucknell University with degrees in both Economic and Religion before becoming an assistant football coach at fellow PSAC foe West Chester for five seasons.

After coaching at West Chester, Hall joined the staff at Division I AA power Villanova where he served as a top assistant and helped lead the team to great success for four seasons.

Hall then joined the staff at another Division I AA power when he became the assistant coach at Delaware in 1996. In his six seasons with the Blue Hens, Coach Hall helped lead Delaware football to the postseason three of those years while also bringing in strong recruiting classes year-in and year-out.

In all, Hall brings in almost 20 years of collegiate coaching experience at all levels and will look to help the Bald Eagles soar to new heights.

Mat Turner

(Assistant

Defensive Line)

Turner is a graduate of North Carolina University at Pembroke with a degree
